Underthreat

UNDER THREAT is a melodic death metal band hailing from Colombia , South America. The band was formed in 1997 by Nicolas Bermudez,(guitars),David Bermudez (bass) , John Perez (vocals) and Alejandro Rojas (drums) , under the name of skulptor”. In the middle of 1999, and after several conceptual changes, the name SKULPTOR was changed to UNDER THREAT and the band entered the studio to record their first release on CD format. The album HIPOSTASIS is released at the end of ’99 on Transilvania Music, an independent Columbian record label.

Fast and aggressive melodic guitars, blasting drums and raw-deep voices characterises UNDER THREAT’s music, which is deeply influenced by 80’s and 90’s , death, thrash and black metal. UNDER THREAT wrote their lyrics in spanish, however, after the release of “Hipostasis”, they changed the lyrics into English, attempting to reach a wider international audience.

Hippostasis was extremely well received in the Colombian and South American metal scene, marking the beginning of an extremely successful band. Upon the release, of Hippostasis, UNDER THREAT played numerous shows around Columbia gaining a massive following from the people in Colombia and now the band absolutely dominates the metal scene there.

The band has participated in several compilations along side the likes of Satyricon, Angel Corpse, Impaled Nazarene Exhumed and Jag Panzer and they have played shows with bands such as Destruction, Anal Blast and Monstrosity. They took the U.S. metal community by surprise when they played at the 2002 Milwaukee Metal fest and they have already been invited back for the 2003 Metal Fest.

Encouraged by the great response by the audience at the Metal Fest,UNDER THREAT members joined by second guitarist, Eric Leider, entered Studio One in Racine, WI and recorded “Behind Mankind’s Disguise, their first English speaking album. It was then mastered at Mastermind in Milwaukee, WI. Although pursued by a number of labels,Conquest Music quickly signed and welcomed them to their label.
